Becoming an umpire is a fantastic way to support our club, develop valuable skills, and stay involved in netball.

Umpiring with Norths Netball.

Umpiring is an essential part of netball, ensuring that games are played fairly, safely, and in the spirit of competition. At Norths, we encourage all members to consider becoming an umpire and contributing to the success of our club and the Illawarra District Netball Association (IDNA).

It's important to understand the club's role in providing umpires for the IDNA competitions.  As a member of the association having active umpires supports the smooth running of the competition but also enhances the clubs reputation and contribution to the sport.

Each club within IDNA is required to provide a certain number of umpires for games. This ensures that all matches are covered by certified and skilled officials, maintaining the quality and fairness of the competition. The requirement to supply umpires is often proportional to the number of teams the club has entered in the competition.

Why Become a Netball Umpire?

  • Develop Your Skills: Umpiring enhances your understanding of netball, sharpens decision-making, and builds confidence.

  • Support the Club: Every game needs skilled umpires. By umpiring, you play a vital role in ensuring our matches run smoothly.

  • Earn While You Learn: Umpiring offers financial rewards, making it a great way to support your involvement in netball.

  • Stay Active in the Game: If you love netball but don’t want to play, umpiring is a fantastic way to stay connected to the sport.
